Our Story
The story of Ya Maleko starts with my father, Mohd Sabir Ali. He was born on 5th November 1975 and lived in Bihar with his parents and 6 other siblings. The life there was not luxurious but a happy one. They made a living through farming and other rural activities until my grandparents sent my father to Kolkata in 1987 for further studies.
He stayed in a hostel and worked part-time to make a living. He acquired knowledge about business and the economy while working with some experts in the leather industry of Kolkata.
After studying and working there for about 7 years, my father married and came to Delhi to start his own business. At first, he used to work in the leather industry in Delhi, and after 3 years, he started his own business supplying leather to bags and wallet manufacturers.
After working in the leather industry for a few years, he started noticing the fall of the great leather era. At this time, a new synthetic leather called Rexine or PU Leather was introduced in the market. He saw potential in this new fabric and decided to start a new business revolving around rexine.
He started this new business in 2008 named Altamash Rexine. He was already a trusted businessman in the field and had a big customer base, which helped this new business thrive. Everything was going fine until the government imposed demonetisation in 2016. The wrath of the government had struck all businesses.
He decided from scratch in 2017, and everything looked great again until COVID-19 came into our lives. Everything was shut down. Even at this difficult time, he did not give up and instead helped others as much as possible. He gave out free food and essentials to all the needy people in the area even though he himself didn’t have that much for himself and his family.
But even COVID-19 couldn’t defeat his spirit. He started his own manufacturing plant and launched a range of side bags, cross-body bags, laptop bags, college bags, etc., while ensuring premium quality at a modest budget.
In 2022, he decided to get the trademark Ya Maleko. Since then, we have been working towards manufacturing the best quality affordable bags. We also started selling our bags in multiple Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Srinagar, and Mumbai retail stores.
After working for so long, we finally launched our website this year, and everything was possible only with the guidance of my father and the help of my friends Mohd Anas and Mohd Suhail.
We’ve been working day and night on the quality and manufacturing of the products to ensure that we always deliver the best quality bags to all our customers.
